What have the New International Version & THE New World Translation got in common?

What have the New International Version & the New World Translation got in common
The same 15 verses are missing from both versions
Quoted from Which Bible is God’s Word G. Riplinger P116
YES THE New International Version & THE New World Translation HAVE OMITTED THE SAME 15 VERSES FROM THE New Testament! The New World Translation is the book that the Jehovah Witnesses use.
This is amazing information. Most of us bible believing Christians think that our bibles are the Word of God But how can a Christian bible and a book of an organisation that does not believe that Christ Jesus is God be so similar?
Well the simple truth is that the New International Version used the same source documents as the New World Translation. Is it any wonder that Christians quoting the New International Version when the Jehovah Witnesses come knocking on the door, have such a hard time!
Lets look at a verse today
[KJV] [MAT 17:21] Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting
Here is a call to pray and fast. We often need to pray with fasting. Pray with fasting is a necessary means to grace. This has been called “extraordinary prayer”. While I don’t want to extend the teaching about pray & fasting today, if you have a modern “VERSION” of our bible then you won’t find this verse. Please remember that the versions chop & change their content over their publishing history. The modern “version” publishing editions often have inclusions & exclusions slipped in. sometimes these are with footnotes & sometimes they are not. They have been known to chop & change.
Let’s look at the New International Version & the New World Translation in this verse:
[NIV] MAT 17:20 - 22
[MAT 17:20] He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
21 –
[MAT 17:22] When they came together in Galilee, he said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men.
[NWT] [MAT 17:20-22] He said to them: “Because of YOUR little faith. For truly I say to YOU, If YOU have faith the size of a mustard grain, YOU will say to this mountain, ‘Transfer from here to there,’ and it will transfer, and nothing will be impossible for YOU.”
21 –
22 It was while they were gathered together in Gal´i•lee that Jesus said to them: “The Son of man is destined to be betrayed into men’s hands,
As you can plainly see verse 21 is missing from both books. Why is that? Well I don’t know but I rather think that I like the idea of it being there since it is in all the language bibles that can trace their origins back to the early centuries.
{verse 21 is left out of NIV & NWT}
Why this verse should just be dropped is a problem. Later on I’ll spend some time of “how this came to be”. There must be something powerful and wonderful about this concept of mixing fasting with prayer to get it dropped out of modern books claiming to be bibles. Maybe we should give it a try. Just try baby steps of say missing the evening meal - if you are a diabetic (like me) or have some other medical condition take care & know what you are doing before you launch out. For us there is a type of fasting called “no pleasant food” - maybe that was a good low GI diet anyway
“NO PLEASANT FOOD”
[KJV] [Daniel 1:12] Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.
Daniel wanted to eat this instead of the King’s full dinner table.
[KJV] [Daniel 1:13] Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
This is a good way to fast if you have to match your eating to any medication BUT read up on it first & ask a health professional if you want to.
The point is that there must be some benefit that is not immediately apparent for both of these books (& many other modern bible versions) to have left this verse completely out. The numbering of the verse goes 20 then 22 - blink and its gone.
P.S. this is why we should Pray - Read - Look in small sections when we read the bible so that we pick up these things
See if you can find any more verses that are missing. There are 15 full ones and lots of other changes!
